We 3> Breastfeeding!

When I breastfed my infant daughter, I had no idea how much I would enjoy it.  Like many first-time moms, I was a little nervous about it and worried it wouldn’t go well.   I wouldn’t trade the bonding experience I had with my daughter while breastfeeding for anything in the world.  She was a healthy infant and child and I feel certain it has a lot to do with being breastfed as a baby.  In honor of National Breastfeeding Month, we are giving away a Petunia Pickle Bottom Nursing Cover to two lucky moms.  Let us know what breastfeeding means to you here and include your contact info.  The deadline to enter is August 31st.  The winners will be notified by Friday September 2nd.–Cheyenne

We are expecting our 1st sweet little baby and I am definitely going to breastfeed. I have heard so many stories of mamma’s having a hard time breastfeeding, it’s nice to hear that you have had such a wonderful experience. I can’t wait :) thank you so much for this great giveaway. These nursing covers are beautiful.

I am expecting my first child in January, and despite some initial anxiousness I am looking forward to this experience. I will be leaving my full time job so that I can be a stay at home mom, and will then be able to exclusively breastfeed my baby. In addition to breastfeeding being a great health benefit to the baby, it also will create a time for just he and I to bond. It is an amazing feeling to know that I can provide what my baby needs to grow healthy and strong. I can be his source of nutrition and sustainment. This is a very powerful thought for any mother.

This time around breastfeeding has been such an awesome rewarding gift I was able to provide for my little girl, with my son I had less support and things didnt go as planned but my determination this time wasnt going to let me give up!! Thanks for the giveaway :)

It means so much more this second time around. I was not able to breastfeed for that long with my first due to many issues. This time around I have been able to do with help and it has helped me bond with my premie more.

  6. I have two young girls. With my second daughter, I have often felt very guilty that my 2 year old toddler requires/demands most of my attention throughout the day. Breastfeeding my baby girl gives me that special one on one time that we share alone. It is an amazing feeling to be able to provide your child with the love, attention, and nourishment that they need. Breastfeeding my daughter is so special…especially when she looks up at me with those big brown eyes as if to say, “Thank you mom, I love you”. I cherish these moments and the time I have with my two little love bugs…

To me, breastfeeding means that I am giving my child the best start to life that I can give. My first child had a health problem that prevented her from feeding orally. I wanted her to have the benefits of breastmilk, so I pumped milk and fed it through her NG tube until she was able to drink from a bottle (6 months). I then bottle fed her breastmilk until she was 15 months old. I think she is healthy now in part because of this. I just gave birth to my second child a week ago, and I am now enjoying the emotional benefits of breastfeeding her. I feel the bond that we are building as we get to know each-other, and we both love it.

Nursing my kids has meant so much to me…love, comfort, cuddles, good health, and quality time.

  9. Jessica S says:

I was so sick and dehydrated that I need to go to the ER to get fluids. My milk stopped coming during this time. I was so devastated that it wouldn’t come back, I cried the whole way to the ER and the time there. After the fluids were in my system and I started feeling better my milk came back!! There I was, the girl who said she would never breastfeed, bawling over my milk supply and not caring about how I felt, I just wanted to have my milk back for my son’s sake!

All I can say is that I cannot wait to breastfeed my first child- a boy who is due on Christmas Day! My mother breastfed all 10 of her children and because of her positive influence and encouragement, I am planning to breastfeed my son. Looking forward to bonding with my precious boy.

  11. Ronda Martin says:

I grew up in family of strong and loving women, all which breastfed their babies. It was always important to me to be able to breastfeed. Breastfeeding is a natural and beautiful experience that creates an unexplainable bond between myself and my little girl. Holding her in my arms provides comfort and security for her, but also warms my heart that I am able to provide for her.

  12. Colleen says:

great experience and so glad I did not give up! had LOTS of support which was key to my success.

  13. Kathy Nguyen says:

While pregnant I did tons and tons of research. I was certain I wanted to breastfeed, but unsure whether or not it’d work for me. I’m so glad it did! Breastfeeding is so important to me because of the bond baby Kiera and I share during this moment. I feel blissful knowing I am providing nutrients to help aid her in growing up to be a healthy baby. Breastfeeding MEANS THE WORLD to me. I plan to breastfeed for as long as I can.

I have raised two boys and breastfed them both. They are the healthiest boys – we only go to the doctor for their birthday to get a physical. I am now due to deliver next Friday and once again plan to breastfeed and raise another healthy boy. Breastfeeding = Healthy!!!

  15. Breastfeeding is the start of a new revolution for me. No one in my family breastfed for years. My sister and I didnt just want to follow we wanted to do the best for our children. We looked at the facts and there is nothing better! The bonding that you get is just icing on the cake…My children are healthy and I have the peace of mind that I did the very best for them. The connection we feel is amazing I wouldnt do it any other way.

  16. Breastfeeding means time alone with my daughter. It’s a bit selfish, but hey I did carry her for 9 months! I get to see her happy or blowing bubbles or satisfied in a way that no one else will even begin to understand. It’s a time when the outside world stops and nothing gets done, but mandatory time with my daughter. And because I started with this in mind it still is at almost 7 months. (Mainly because she doesn’t feed if I talk or someone talks to me now!)

  17. Heather says:

Breastfeeding is the best gift you can give to your newborn. When my son was born, for whatever reason, he simply would not latch on. I tried EVERYTHING, and it seemed like it came so naturally to others around me, and to say the least, I was crushed that it didn’t happen for us. So, I pumped, and gave him breast milk in a bottle for as long as I could produce it. Three weeks ago, our daughter was born, and she is breastfeeding like a champ!! I am so happy that I am getting to have this experience the second time around. If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to let go of the mommy guilt I felt with my son, and enjoy those precious moments.

Love to breastfeed my babies. I had my second son born on father’s day (june 19th) and probably the best gift i had given my husband and breastfeeding my son is the best thing i could provide aside from the love and care from me. The bond i get from my sons through breastfeeding is so immeasurable and i could really see how contented and happy they are. I don’t really care that my son who is now 2 months waking up every 3-4hrs to breastfeed him during wee hours. Just to see him healthy and happy are the main things that really counts… Plus he always smiles at me every after feeding. What more could i ask for?

  19. Lauren Dooley says:

I currently have two children and pregnant with my third. I breastfed both for 16 months each. As I watched my sister-in-law feeding her son I thought thats what I missed about an infant. Its relaxing and nourishing and it is a great bonding experience for you and new baby. Looking forward to doing it again and I recommend it highly to any women who wants to give it a go!

  20. Nadia Orr says:

I love breastfeeding because it is such a special time between me and my children… I am having my 3rd in October and am really looking forward to that special time together plus it’s so healthy for the kid so why not do what you can to keep them healthy!

  21. Brooke T says:

I was able to nurse the entire 1st year with my son and it was such a great experience! The 1st month or so was rough but in the end it paid off because I got so much bonding time with him. I am hoping I will be able to do the same when we have #2.

  22. lisa braccia says:

To me breastfeeding is overall well being for both baby and mom!!! I feel it is the best start in life I could give my children and it also helps me get quickly back to my pre baby body!!!!The known benefits and bonding experiences of breastfeeding are so clear that I couldnt imagine feeding my children any other way! I am very proud to be a nursing mom!
